About Me
My Creative Journey (The Real Me)
As a multi-passionate artist, guided by an innate creative energy that spans many mediums, my path has been rich and varied. Sparked by my work as a hair & makeup artist for Hollywood sets and editorial photoshoots to a painting auctioned at MoMA in Phoenix.
My creative toolkit is broad: from digital art (I'm a Photoshop whiz!) to a boudoir and wedding photography biz, and hands-on work with batiking, fabric tie-dyeing, sewing, and hat making. Beyond these, my deep-rooted love for cooking, a passion I've cultivated for years and consider my foundational soul language, even led to a published cookbook. This is just a glimpse of where my insatiable, artistic curiosity has taken me.
Here I share a new painting collection inspired by the abstract emotional heartache of love. I hope to inspire a feeling, forge a connection with your space, and leave a lasting impression that speaks to your soul.
My Core Philosophy: Living a Creative Life
My life has always thrived on some sort of ritual, whether I knew it at the time or not there was always a certain form of foundation for things—an idea, inspiration, beautiful spaces, a stable abode, music to suit the mood, supplies ready for flow and a good vibe in place (energy is everything), just to name a few things that keep the current running.
These supplies and mediums come in the form of art supplies, food supplies, imagination, emotional experiences, physical experiences, technology, etc.—all of these so-called supplies are the 'ingredients' that make for creative expression leading to arts expression in its own right. It's an abstract concept for sure, or is it?... Nevertheless it is my concept in living a creatively expressive form of life.
The Conflict: Homebody vs. Nomad
For the last many years, my core was disconnected. I navigated a complex nomadic travel life while struggling with the slow, necessary dismantling of my personal foundation—Let me clarify this nomad travel style was rarely “a vacation”—(More on that another time). As a homebody whose creative flow is tied to domestic ritual, I rarely created anything, whether an excuse or out of my control, travel itineraries were my “work” focus in an ever changing “travel” climate. It was a “living in the future”, not the present moment. I definitely exceeded focus on what I didn't have and all the wrong things including the lack of community, space, the scarcity of materials ie: ”ingredients”. I felt artistically empty, it was a real creative famine. Compounding that, I was privately wrestling with an immense, intuitive heartache that was dismantling the foundation of my life.
Archived Chaos and Emotional Upheaval
The full truth of that turmoil and betrayal was revealed much later. While I couldn't “create” during that time, the feeling of that chaos was archived within me. And as time allows us to move on I retrieved the archived chaos of that time and creating this art collection became one of the tools to pick up the pieces, transforming that pain, denial, and confusion into hard-won clarity.
This art collection is a record of finding resilience within yourself. If you are drawn to its intensity, know you are connecting with a truth that runs deep.
Resilience
Here I am today, having built this entire website and content from the ground up. This work is a testament to the strength found when everything else falls apart.
I am happy to report that while healing comes in so many ways, shapes and forms it is an ongoing, never-ending obstacle and sometimes many hard won battles, but totally worth it in the end…one struggle at a time, I just gotta keep evolving and moving forward.
"I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship."
-Louisa May Alcott (Author of Little Women, I am named after the character Amy March.)
Amy March embodied a fierce ambition, struggle with perfectionism, and a deep appreciation for beauty and elegance. Amy March was famous for her European journeys that were all about her dedication to her art and her growth as a person.
How fortuitous. I am in good company!
